The Moose Jaw Rotary Club and the Moose Jaw Wakamow Rotary Club are raising funds with the following:
Moose Jaw’s two Rotary clubs will be hosting a special Ukrainian supper on Friday, April 29th, to raise funds to help Ukrainian refugees in Poland.
“All profits will go to Rotary in Poland, to provide humanitarian aid most needed by Ukrainian refugees. It could be used for things like food, shelter, medical services, transportation,” said Moose Jaw Wakamow Rotarian, Glenn Hagel.
Glen Blager, of the Rotary Club of Moose Jaw, said, “This is a special way that the people of Moose Jaw can help Ukrainian refugees who have fled to Poland from their Ukrainian homes.”
The Ukrainian meal begins at 5:30 at the Church of Our Lady Hall, 566 Vaughan Street, with pick up takeout orders available from 4:45 to 6:15.
The special menu includes deluxe handmade cabbage rolls, loaded handmade perogies, Ukrainian Co-op sausage, Deruny(Ukrainian potato pancakes), caramelized onions and sour cream, with Honey Babka for dessert.
Tickets are available for $30, through SaskTix or at the Mosaic Place box office. Orders can be made online by clicking HERE.
Glenn and Glen’s concluding message to Moose Javians is … “You can help Ukrainian refugees!”
In addition, we are holding a perogy-making instructional evening on April 27.  Our goal is to assemble at least 40 people (10 groups of 4), which would be made up of members from our combined clubs (Moose Jaw Wakamow and Moose Jaw) and community members.  From the Moose Jaw community, we would like to target husband-wife combinations from the Ukrainian community, business, RCMP, Police Services, city hall, media, government, etc.  We’ll need approximately 20-25 bodies. In a perfect world, we would like to celebrate the event as Moose Jaw ‘Coming Together’ to support Ukrainian refugees with all the press we can muster.  Similarly, by involving leaders from the community, we hope to influence some ‘word of mouth’ promotion for our fundraiser.  Finally, the event is an opportunity for the two clubs to work together and perhaps recruit some potential members.  At very least, we’ll have a good time and make the perogies for our Ukrainian dinner.

The South Eastman Rotary Club will be holding a jail and bail on May 12.
