At Assiniboia Rotary members are very involved as close friends, fundraise together and support youth-oriented projects. Much of their uniqueness, however, arises from the fact that women outnumber men 2 to 1.

Youth-focused programs in which members participate are:
  • the various Adventures programs,
  • RYLA (4 students sent to Rotary Youth Leadership Camp in 2018),
  • long and short-term youth exchange programs,
  • serving a luncheon to the Grade 10s in the local high school,
  • providing a donation of $25 to Ripple Effect program for each student in the local high school’s graduating class, and
  • providing a youth counsellor for students attending the Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA).

Also, the club members help out at the local food bank, work at Rotaract’s barbecue, donate to ShelterBox and support the Kinsmen’s TeleMiracle telethon.

The club is currently working on its bylaws to introduce changes that would accommodate flexibility in club memberships (e.g. corporate membership).

All this is done by nine very devoted and busy Rotarians – awesome!
