Over the past number of years, the Selkirk Rotary Club has had many large projects as well as contributions to various smaller initiatives in the community.
Larger projects have included:
 
  • The building of Rotary Manor (senior apartment is since taken over by Prov. Govt)
  • Outdoor Swimming pool at Selkirk Park
  • A major contributor to indoor Swimming Pool located at High School
  • Bringing first Dialysis equipment to Selkirk Hospital
  • Skateboard Park located in Selkirk Park (1,000,000$)
                                  
     
     
  • Purchase of Echocardiography equipment in partnership with Selkirk Regional Health Centre (240,000$)
  • A major contributor to housing for Women’s Shelter in Selkirk (Nova House)
  • A major contributor to Inclusive housing in Selkirk
  • Furnishing of Children’s Centre in new Gaynor Family Library in Selkirk
Regular contributions include Shriners Circus Daddy’s; Polio Plus; Ripple Effect; Adult Literacy; local Bear Clan; Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen; Random Acts of Kindness; RYLA, Adventures programs, MUNA.
 
In March 2019 we hosted a Forum with the mayors of Selkirk, St. Andrews and St. Clements to talk about Bill 2, [The Municipal Amendment Act (Strengthening Codes of Conduct for Council Members)] dealing with harassment at the Municipal level. Fifty people attended the luncheon. A similar event, on a topic of interest to the community, is planned.
 
Funds are raised for all of the above by the:
  • Annual Lobsterfest (600 guests) (includes Live and Silent Auctions, 50/50)
  • Annual book sale for two weekends
  • Wine & Roses evening (wine tasting)
  • Silent auction at our Christmas Dinner from which the proceeds are donated to specific projects
  • Quiz Night with 100 people in attendance
